The Porterhouse North, at Cross Gun’s Bridge,
Glasnevin, opened it’s doors on Thursday
11 March. Built in the 1930’s, the building
was one of the First Art Deco style buildings
in Ireland.
The Porterhouse Brewing Company were keen to
preserve, conserve and consolidate the style of
this distinctive building in its new use as a
bar and restaurant so all doors and windows were
replaced to suit the original Art Deco style.
This transformation was project managed by Frank
Ennis Associates, who acted as architect and interior
designer.
McKenna & Cairns was contracted to supply
custom-made joinery for the Porterhouse North.
The company has worked on al previous Porterhouse
developments and was delighted to continue its
relationship with the client.
Having worked in the carpentry/joinery business
for many years the partners brought together a
wealth of knowledge and skills to form the company
name and establish the standards that they have
today. Providing a complete joinery fit out package
from start to finish, they work closely with architects
and designers.
Tony McKenna explains that each Porterhouse they
have worked on has its own unique style. Briefed
on Porterhouse North before Christmas, they worked
closely with Frank Ennis to bring his drawings
and designs to life. They had a team of six people
on site during the project.
